Of tears and separations

I'm sorry to hear news of separations. News of deaths, news of breakups.

I'm sorry for not being able to be physically there. Physically there to lend a shoulder, or give a hug.

I'm sorry for being so soft. The tears just come and I can't stop them.

Maybe it's because my close and loved ones are all far away, at home.
Maybe because I have yet to find someone I can call a close friend here.
Maybe I am really made of tears.

Upon these sorries and maybes, I wish.

I wished for strength for my friends.
I wished for support: physical, mental and psychological.
I wished for happiness, faith and hope to bring you to a brighter future.

3 ways to deal with irritating commuters

1. When the person behind you push you (they do this all the time, even when you are walking down the stairs), turn around, shoot a glare and brush the place they touched as if they are some virus/germs.

Dirty people deserve to be treated in dirty ways.

2. When someone tries to cut your queue when exiting the gantry, be swift! TAP YOUR CARD FIRST! Then give him/her the "Hahaha! Go out if you dare!" look.

This is called TIT FOR TAT, 以牙还牙.

Edit: The system will deduct according to how long you spent in the station. If they never tap card and go out, they will need to go to the control station and waste more time. They don't have the time, but I have all the time in the world. Rush more and I will let them waste more time! :P

3. Say "SORRY" loudly. Enjoy that one moment where everyone turns and look at that person while guilt flashes past his/her face for a millisecond. Make sure it's sorry and not 对不起.

以礼待人, let them paiseh. Haha!

Weird Rashes

I think I am allergic to something.

I have little rashes/spots popping up at random places! Forehead, eyebrows, cheeks, neck, shoulder, lower back. They are leaving scars, especially the lower back area! (Maybe I should be glad that my face has super healing powers!)

I need to find out what I'm allergic to. :( Maybe sugar, oil, salt, vinegar? Bell pepper? Nuts? How? I need help!

There goes my bareback wedding gown dream...

Rush Day

7th January 2008

It's the first time I take a flight. Well, actually my mum told me I took a plane when I was a baby, but how am I supposed to remember that, right?

Airport? Or not? *shrugs*

On the way to NTU office. Shanghai is bustling with many highways! They are like a massive spider web!

I was rather excited (and a little scared). First, I'm on the plane without my loved ones and close friends (thanks Piggiigod for new found friends). Second, I'm going to a faraway place with refreshing new experience. Third, it'll be my first taste of winter the moment I get off the plane. Lastly, I'll be away ALONE for A LONG TIME.

Fellow GIP peeps boarding the bus to NTU office! Big luggages! We're all migrating! :P

Super alot of firsts. First flight, first winter, first long trip alone.

My bus is almost empty... 'cos we live at ulu places! :x

My housemates and I! We're SUPER HAPPY there's FOOD at the office for us!

Touched down, hang around waiting for the buses, and off we go to the NTU office for some briefing! We met Detong, the SENs guy at Shanghai. And he gave us (well, me at least) a pleasant surprise by duplicating the keys for us! All nicely done (although some of the keys ended up faulty)! Nice first impression! ^^

Joanne and I! I'm super happy to see familiar faces! Hohoho... Love her loads!

The briefing is shorter than our waiting time! But too bad we didn't skip it. Detong brought us home separately in a van. We threw our luggage in the house and he brought us around the estate. Well, at least we need to know where is the metro station and supermarket!

After shopping at 农工商超市 for the necessities (pillows, bed sheets, quilt), we decided to just rest our feet and settle lunch/dinner (it's around 4 p.m.) at KFC!

1. Smaller (okay, you can't see that in the picture)
2. Orange juice instead of Pepsi as default drink
3. No coleslaw, only corn salad

We returned home thinking we can rest in warmth (first day, so we're not adjusted to the cold at all). But it blacked-out.

Not once, not twice, but FIVE TIMES!

Yeerae and Chinweng fell asleep in the living room while waiting for the guard to unlock the main circuit...

Apparently, we over-loaded the power by switching all the heaters at once. There's only a few! Plus, we were freezing cold! In the end, they had someone fix it so we have a higher power load available.

Lesson learnt? We cannot live without the heaters and the laptops!

Well.. Here's a last stupid picture of myself to cheer everyone who's feeling down and to make those who're feeling good great! :D

Farewell

6th January 2008

My flight was at 1 a.m., yet my family and friends tried their best to come and send me off. Thank you very much, dear all. I really appreciated it. :)


My beloved Daddy and Mummy can't bear to see me away for 6 months.



But hey, they know I'm going to have the experience of my life, a whaling good time! :P


I super HEART my mummy! Sealed it with a kiss!

I HEART my daddy too! Take care okay? Remember to eat your medicine. Eat food that's lightly flavoured; skip the oil, salt, sugar!


My four buddies-until-cannot-buddies friends! We've been hanging around since secondary school. Counting the years has become so hard! Soon, we'll need 2 pair of hands! ^^

The 3 of us can always be seen hanging around each other in secondary school! Well, even though we're studying different courses now, we still care about each other. Sisters yea? *hug*

Not coincidentally, this little chilli padi (aka Cute QQ) is my roomie for 2.5 years! (My daddy is trying to be funny behind.)

These girls rock socks! Despite not meeting up as often as we want to, I can always depend on them to be around. *muack muack, even if you don't want my kisses!*
This is Yihan, my 'daddy'! Super zai guy. But super sad. As much as this was a farewell for me, it was also the farewell between the two of us. The smartie pants going away for studies for 6 years! SIX YEARS LEH DADDY! I'm only gone for SIX MONTHS! You'll be gone long before I return to Singapore! :( Better take care there okay! Anything can call, MSN, email, skype me!
Hoho... This is my 'hubby'. Our 'love' started during the video shoot for my speech project. Hubby, being the super nice guy that he is, helped even though I only saw him ONCE (and I didn't really speak to him during that ONE meeting).
So, even though you weren't specially here to send me off, thanks ar! ^^ If you get a new robot wife when I'm back, I'll make sure you become history!

Hee... My hall friends! We lived in the same block last year. Found everything I need here: love, concern, care, happiness, spontaneity...

Last but not least, Mini Boss. Thanks for all those free lifts! Hur hur... Don't worry kayz, I wouldn't box you for real. ^^

我可爱的同事

Hee... Here's a picture of my team and I at PMG Asia. Although technically speaking, I'm working with the two person standing beside me. ^^

Work has been pleasant so far. It's just the first week, and I'm not rushing things. A little task or two here and there; I'm learning as much as possible. Thanks for the helpful colleagues.

Anyway, my pet phrase here is “有什么事需要我帮忙吗？”

Lunch time is at 12 noon. There're quite a few eateries near my workplace selling cheap and nice food. Despite saying this, I'm missing my char kway tiao, nasi lemak, carrot cake, hokkien prawn mee (the one here taste like they used sea water to cook it), hao jian...
Will be broke when I go back. How to eat all these? Ay... date me for supper and treat me leh! (hee, so bhb, ask for treat.)

Surprise!

Woo hoo! Thanks to dearest Janus, I'm able to blog! 真不愧是天才！

So, I arrived in Shanghai safely. So, I settled down pretty comfortably. So, I started work this week.

More updates? Sure! Wait till I'm more free ok? Then I'll show you pictures of my home in Shanghai, some places I visited (not much of tourist attractions, 'cos I went shopping for the stay last week).

Oh, did I mention that I saw SNOW? Woo hoo... It merely snowed lightly. And it's nothing beautiful or romantic; it's just... exciting. Haha...

Raining here is nothing like raining in Singapore. Rain here comes in the form of drizzle. Sometimes, the weather is so cold the raindrops came down as ice flakes. Sometimes, the wind is so strong, the raindrops just flew away. :)

I *heart* Shanghai! But I find winter a tad depressing. :x

Edit: Blah... The ice flakes I talked about turns out to be SNOW. So bimbotic... I even walked in the snow without knowing it! I was wondering how come the raindrops are white and stick to my jacket. -_-
